Under Councilman Curren Price’s leadership, South LA won a Promise Zone designation that allows the Ninth District to benefit from a unique community development program. The federal program, which was established in 2013, provides additional resources to help stimulate areas with high-poverty rates.
20 new state-of-the-art Bigbelly Smart Waste Systems were installed in the Ninth District, helping to combat the litter problem on City streets and public areas. The latest addition of the Bigbellys were placed along major corridors in CD 9, including Main Street and Avalon Boulevard.
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art has move one step closer in establishing a location at the South Los Angeles Wetland Park, to bring artwork out to the community.
